Cardozo Women’s Law Initiative (WLI)
The Cardozo Women's Law Initiative was founded to celebrate women's achievements, address remaining challenges, and facilitate continued progress by bringing legal practitioners and law students together to share in an ongoing conversation about gender issues in law school and the profession. We welcome and celebrate all gender expression, sexualities, races, ethnicities, and identities as an organization. WLI hosts events that promote women in the legal profession, holds member-run brown bag lunch discussions to learn and discuss a variety of topics, social events, and provides spaces for women-identifying folks to express themselves and support one another.

The purpose of this organization is to provide Christian students with a community to grow in their faith, find fellowship, and glorify God. Disabled Law Student Association (DLSA)
The purpose of this organization is to affirm that students with disabilities have a right to equal access in all programs, facilities, and opportunities at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. We serve as forward-facing advocates for disability diversity in legal education and the legal profession. Our goal is to provide resources to combat the pervasive ableism of the legal field. We empower disabled law students by broadcasting advocacy efforts and events and promote a sense of community and pride by providing a platform for both students with disabilities and advocates for disability rights.

Jewish Law Student Association (JLSA)
The Jewish Law Students Association is the representative body for Jewish students at Cardozo. The Board is responsible for planning social, educational, and religious events of interest to students. Our group prides itself on bringing people from a variety of backgrounds together to celebrate Jewish culture and heritage, and all of our events are open to the entire law school community.

Latin American Law Student Association (LALSA)
LALSA fosters a sense of community within the student body and with broader Latinx legal professionals. Throughout the year, we host a variety of educational events, networking opportunities, and social gatherings. For our professional, educational, and networking events, LALSA brings Latinx attorneys in different practice areas to speak with our students. While for our social events, we will host get togethers off and on campus to foster a sense of community for our Latinx students at Cardozo. Most notably, LALSA hosts Cardozo’s annual FIESTA, where we culminate a hard year of work by showcasing Latinx culture, live music, dance, art, poetry, and much more.
Further, to support students academically, we offer mentorship opportunities, provide access to shared library and office spaces, and consistently inform our students for available legal resources, both inside and outside of Cardozo. Our students and alumni are well represented in all areas of the law. We facilitate participation in law firm receptions, job fairs, networking, and volunteering events, as well as journals, clinics, and competitions at Cardozo. Overall, LALSA's central focus is fostering community where our members feel that can grow academically, professionally, and personally at Cardozo.

Minority Law Student Alliance (MLSA)
The Minority Law Students Association is the central link that connects each affinity group within the Cardozo community. MLSA’s purpose is to unify, support, and stand in solidarity with said groups by encouraging mutual collaboration and fostering a sense of community. MLSA’s mission is to continue advocating on behalf of students of color, those who identify as LGBTQ, and others from underrepresented backgrounds within the legal field. MLSA will work to increase school awareness of the legal and social issues that affect people from marginalized backgrounds to foster intellectual discourse on how these issues affect individuals and our society as a whole. Lastly, MLSA will bridge relationships between students, faculty, and alumni in order to adequately support student needs while providing networks that extend beyond law school.

Muslim Student Association (MSA)
The Muslim Student Association at Cardozo Law aims to support Cardozo’s Muslim law student population, promote a greater understanding of Muslims and Islam on campus, and facilitate the professional, academic, and social development of its members. Native American law student association (NALSA)
The Cardozo Native American Law Student Association (NALSA) is a student-led organization that aims to promote community among Native American, Alaskan Native, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, and other Indigenous law students, as well as their allies. NALSA also acts as a resource for law students interested in studying Federal Indian Law, Tribal Law, and other Indigenous legal systems. We provide supports, networks, and opportunities for members to learn more about Indigenous rights and cultures.

Alliance for Sexual Aggression Prevention (ASAP)
The Alliance for Sexual Aggression Prevention was founded at Cardozo Law School to empower survivors of sexual assault and violence and to grow awareness of the school’s Title IX policies. We hope to provide students with resources in the event of unwanted sexual conduct, whether or not they would like to turn to the Title IX process. We are here as students, for students, to increase awareness and transparency on campus.

American Constitution Society (ACS)
The Cardozo Student Chapter of the American Constitution Society (ACS) believes that law should be a force to improve the lives of all people. ACS works for positive change by shaping debate on vitally important legal and constitutional issues through the development and promotion of high-impact ideas to opinion leaders and the media; by building networks of lawyers, law students, judges and policymakers dedicated to those ideas; and by countering the activist conservative legal movement that has sought to erode our enduring constitutional values. The Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under the Law is devoted to educating law students about Jewish civil and human rights and empowering them to fight against the world’s oldest hatred. Cannabis Law Society
The Cannabis Law Society at Cardozo Law School is dedicated to fostering an informed and engaged community around the rapidly evolving field of cannabis law. Cardozo bail project (CBP)
Cardozo Bail Project (CBP) enables Cardozo students to get hands-on experience in the criminal legal system by posting bail for at-risk community members. We partner with public defenders and bail funds to bail out those who are sitting in jail only because they have nobody else who can post for them. The Cardozo Dispute Resolution Society aims to promote awareness of the various forms of dispute resolution other than litigation. As we all know, only 5% of cases go to court. Most cases are settled through other dispute resolution processes, such as negotiation, mediation, and arbitration.

Cardozo For Immigrants' Rights and Equality (FIRE)
Cardozo FIRE (For Immigrants' Rights and Equality) is an organization for students interested in immigration as a career path and as an important civil rights movement. Over the years, the club has hosted guest speakers to discuss current pressing immigration issues (such as DACA and the "Muslim ban"), seminars focusing on different types of immigration relief (asylum, SIJS, U-visas), and panels meant to expose students to different career options in the field of immigration. Cardozo FIRE also offers students volunteer opportunities and hosts on-campus training sessions for those interested in volunteering in Immigration Court.

Cardozo Gaming Law Society
The Cardozo Gaming Law Society (CGLS) is an all-inclusive organization seeking to provide a forum for interested students to learn and discuss gaming law, as well as stay up to date with the legal issues that arise. Cardozo on Israel and Palestine
Cardozo on Israel and Palestine (CIP) provides Cardozo law students interested in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and in international human rights law with a network of students, with educational materials and discussions, with opportunities to learn from qualified attorneys and activists in the field, with chances to engage with third party events and organizations, and with general support. CIP welcomes all students—of all opinions, identities and backgrounds, political ideologies, and ancestral and personal connections to the conflict.

Cardozo National Lawyers Guild (NLG)
The National Lawyers Guild (NLG) is a national legal bar association comprised of lawyers, legal-workers, community activists, jailhouse lawyers and concerned citizens who envision the law as an instrument for the protection of all people, regardless of race, class, age, sexual preference, gender identity, disability or immigration status. Since its inception in 1937, the NLG has built an extensive network of public interest and human rights activists and remains a powerful proponent of social justice in America’s legal system. Cardozo's NLG Chapter is committed to exploring the law as a means for social change. We coordinate with the New York City Chapter of the NLG, other law school chapters, and public interest-oriented student groups within Cardozo to organize social and educational programs on campus and around the City. These events encourage a progressive approach to the practice of law so as to provide greater access to justice, prevent discrimination within the legal system, and extend and safeguard the rights of individuals.

Students for Sensible Drug Policy is an international grassroots network of students who are concerned about the impact drug use has on our communities and who know that the War on Drugs is failing our generation and our society. Cardozo Wine Society
Cardozo Wine Society is aimed at providing an opportunity for students to learn about wine, wine pairings and provide opportunities to learn from qualified lawyers and professionals about wine from a legal and experiential prospective. Additionally, this club will provide its members an opportunity to practice professional socializing and networking while at legal events. The goals of this organization are two-fold: first, to gain knowledge about wine and the wine industry; second, to practice networking and etiquette skills. The organization will provide students a casual and cost-sensitive way to learn about wine and prepare for common legal networking environments.

Chabad at Cardozo
The purpose of Chabad at Cardozo is to create a warm Jewish community where our diversity is grounded in unity. Our four objectives include:

Family Law Society
The Family Law Society is a group of passionate individuals who share a common interest in exploring, understanding, and bolstering the field of Family Law and its application in our communities. We dedicate ourselves to the pursuit of legal representation of family law issues, inclusive to both the private and public sector. The Family Law Society strives to connect the student body within each other and within the broader professional network of New York City. Being in the epicenter of the legal world, we have the unique ability of tapping into an ever-expanding network of dedicated, encouraging professionals in New York (including professionals and experts in the field who work within the halls of Cardozo); we host panels on a wide range of topics; and we offer opportunities to mingle with those involved at Family Law functions. Our main role, as member of the larger Cardozo community, is to promote various educational and networking opportunities for students who either aspire to enter the field of Family Law or who have an interest in the constantly evolving legal field (or both!). Fashion Law Society
The Fashion Law Society merges each faction of the fashion industry into one cohesive organization with the unifying goal of engaging Cardozo students in the multiple facets of "fashion law." FLS seeks to explore areas such as intellectual property, business transactions, advertising and social media, government regulations, real estate, labor and employment, data protection, e-commerce, human rights compliance, and consumer culture. FLS provides its members with alumni resources and career/networking opportunities, as well as a space to discuss current events in fashion law. In addition to fostering substantial connections between students and legal professionals, FLS seeks to promulgate Cardozo’s innovative commitment to the fields of intellectual property, entertainment law, real estate law, and business law through the context of the fashion industry.

The Financial Industries Associate Training Society is a student run collective focused on exploring the financial concepts associated with all law school courses. Our goal is to provide all members of the student body with access to clear and concise financial industry training materials. If/When/How trains, networks, and mobilizes law students to work within and beyond the legal system to champion reproductive justice. Sports Law Society
The Sports Law Society is an organization comprised of students who share an interest in sports law and come together to share their knowledge and learn more about those interests through educational and networking events. We prepare Cardozo students for a successful career in the sports law industry through experiences such as speaker series, writing competitions, arbitration competitions, networking events and other such activities both at Cardozo and throughout the country. We have two goals:
To provide members with invaluable litigation and alternative dispute resolution experience, specifically tailored to the sports law field.
To initiate networking opportunities throughout the New York and national sports law industry and to become a premier sports law program that the top firms, teams and leagues want to recruit from.
We encourage hands-on experiences and participation by members throughout the school year, both within the confines of Cardozo and throughout the country at various sports law negotiation competitions. We hope to cultivate a strong sports law environment at the school such that Cardozo alumni in the industry are enticed to give back and share their experiences. As a further goal, we would like to petition the school to include more sports law classes as well as a sports law concentration.
Our ultimate goal is to create a sports law environment here at Cardozo that attracts promising students who have an expressed interest in the field and who may have attended other law schools, or undergraduate universities, with such programs.

Tax Law Society
The Cardozo Law School Tax Society is dedicated to fostering a community of students passionate about tax law, and provide a place to learn more about tax law for all. Women in Tech Law
Women in Tech Law’s mission is to inspire, empower, and support women interested in pursuing a career in technology law. WiTL started at Berkeley Law, and we are honored to grow the mission. Our goal is to cultivate a supportive community within Cardozo for women and other minorities in the Tech world. We have four pillars that serve as guideposts as we plan our agenda each semester. Each event we put on will advance at least one of the pillars, which are: education, networking, advocacy, and community in the field of tech.

Pro Bono Opportunities
Courtroom Advocates Project (CAP)
The Courtroom Advocates Project works with Sanctuary for Families to provide skilled and sensitive legal services to all survivors of gender violence. CAP provides students with training and support to advocate for domestic violence survivors entering family court for relief. Student advocates assist survivors by helping them draft and file their petitions for orders of protection, advocating for them during court appearances, educating them about their legal rights and remedies, and providing them with safety planning and referrals to community resources. Participating students gain unparalleled experience through writing petitions, appearing in court, and direct client interaction.

Suspension Representation Project
Cardozo's chapter of the Suspension Representation Project is part of the larger Suspension Representation Project run out of New York University. SRP represents middle and high school students facing serious suspensions. We routinely help shorten the length of suspensions or eliminate suspensions, helping kids stay in school. Uncontested Divorce Project
Sanctuary for Families provides legal, counseling, shelter, and economic-empowerment services to survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking, and related forms of gender violence in New York City. The Uncontested Divorce Project (“the UDP”) offers law students the opportunity to assist domestic violence victims in their uncontested divorces. Law students work in pairs to conduct interviews, draft legal documents, attend client meetings, and file papers in the New York County Supreme Court, all under the supervision of a Sanctuary attorney.

Unemployment Action Center
The Unemployment Action Center is a citywide, law student-run nonprofit organization dedicated to representing unemployed workers throughout New York City in administrative hearings for their Unemployment Insurance Benefits. Advocates meet with claimants, process their claims, plan a theory for the case, and act as lead counsel for the claimants in administrative hearings. Through UAC, Cardozo students have the opportunity to gain litigation experience in worker's rights as early as their 1L fall!
